[pt] Adorei essa série de cartazes da Christian Mutuality sobre solidariedade. O título da campanha tem algo a ver com o se colocar no lugar dos outros. E precisamos mais disso: gentileza no dia a dia. E sorrisos!

[en] Loved these posters from Christian Mutuality about solidarity. The campaign is about putting yourself in others’ shoes. And we definitely need more of that: kindness in our lives. And smiles!

A fera feminina.

[pt] Esta garota é corajosa. E sua coragem parte de princípios. Até ontem eu não tinha ouvido falar dela e acho que o mundo inteiro deveria saber quem é.

Samira Ibrahim é egípcia, tem 25 anos e como milhares de jovens nesse país (e em tantos outros países) querem um lugar bom para se viver. Samira e outras garotas foram submetidas a um patético exame de virgindade (o que quer que isso queira dizer) durante alguns protestos, como tantos outros que vem ocorrendo no Egito.

O que a torna especial é que Samira foi a única corajosa o suficiente para enfrentar um governo e forças armadas autoritárias e proteger sua liberdade e sua expressão individual. Outras moças tiveram medo, o que não julgo, mas traz uma admiração maior pela sua coragem.

Acho que o mundo já passou da passou da hora de julgar as pessoas pelos motivos errados. Não é errado querer morar em uma nação onde as pessoas são mais felizes. Não é errado amar e retribuir amor a outra pessoa da forma que mais convém. Não é errado ser dono do próprio corpo e assumir as consequências dos próprios atos. Errado é julgar as pessoas sem olhar para o próprio umbigo antes.

E, honestamente, misturar religião e política é coisa de muitos séculos passados…..

[en] This girl is brave. And her courage is based on principles. I had never heard about her until yesterday and I think the whole world should know who she is.

Samira Ibrahim is egyptian, she’s 25 and like thousands of young people in her country (and in many other countries) want to live in a good place. Samira and many other girls had to go through what I can only define as a PATHETIC virginity test (or whatever that is) during one of the protests, as the many that have been taking place in Egypt.

 What makes her special is that Samira was the only one who stood up against the government and the military forces in order to protect her freedom and individual expression. Other girls have been afraid, which I don’t judge, but it makes my admiration for Samira grow stronger.

I think we have long gone past the time when people judged others for the wrong reasons. It’s not wrong to want to live in a nation where people are happier. It’s not wrong to love and give love the way one believes to be the most suitable for one’s self. It’s wrong to do whatever pleases with your own body and take the consequences for it. What is wrong is judging people without looking into your heart first.

And, seriously, mixing religion and politics should have stopped so many centuries ago…..
